For the weekend, we went to Peterson Lane Park, which is surrounded by beautiful trees. The kids are so excited to push Darby in the stroller (pictured below), "help" Darby, have special time with Darby, choose Darby's diaper, etc. I expected more jealousy than I got, and the kids just adore their little sister. They definitely freaked out those first couple of months after her arrival, but it's all directed at me and Matt, not Darby June.
On Sunday, I woke up to breakfast in bed and the gift of sleeping in with Darby (Beck, Ramsey, and Matt were at church). It was divine (I took a picture of the food I received--apparently the kids already ate a few bites!).
For the first several weeks of Darby's life I slept in her room on an air mattress (when I told Matt that I wanted to do this, he went to Target and got a pretty decent air mattress--"only the best for milady" he said :), which worked out well for all of us. Darby is a pretty solid sleeper and it made my life easier with not worrying about waking up Matt, and it made Matt's life much better because he could sleep through the night. Darby wasn't really waking much after the first couple of weeks, so it was nice!
My Mom came to visit and we didn't do much, but it was fun anyway. She kept calling Darby "bright eyes" and really entertained Beck and Ramsey. Beck also had his last soccer practice and got a trophy for his participation. Most practices he didn't actually participate himself as much as just watch the other kids participate, but he definitely warmed up toward the end. Yeah Beck! He was so, so, so proud of his trophy.
