May: Darby & small adventures

So much exhaustion and excitement in May.  We celebrated Memorial Day with matching patriotic shirts (thanks Grandma and Grandpa) and visited Frederick, Maryland (there was a random toilet in the parking garage--a real hit with the kids).  We love it there, just walking around for the day is so fun.  We had some great barbecue, ice cream, and enjoyed the wonderful weather.  We visited Clemyjontri playground on the way to Frederick so the kids could get some of their sillies out, where Darby enjoyed a rest in the front-pack.

In mid-May we visited Middleburg, Virginia, where we walked around a beautiful church property and stumbled upon this great organic/farm fresh delicatessen-ish place and had a nice lunch.  We also hiked on a trail next to the Potomac River, where Matt reluctantly experimented with a more "hands-off," less anxious parenting approach at my request.  It ended with Ramsey literally falling into the river.  Jury is still out on whose parenting approach wins ;)  I say she's none the worse for wear, and maybe she learned a lesson about getting to close too the riverbank?  You'll also notice that Ramsey likes to throw up her gang sign in pictures--not so sure what that's about, but she and Beck sure love to pose for pictures.

Mostly we just enjoyed our Darby--she is such a sweet addition to our family and there are TONS of pictures of her!

Bella spontaneously jumped on Beck's lap, and he was not sure what to think of it!
