The terrible part of June

My Mom died on June 16, 2014 (estimated by the EMT that examined her body) and was discovered on June 18, 2014 (the day before her birthday--she would have been 60).  She was lying peacefully on her chair with her arms folded in the sunroom of the Algonquin house.  There is a whole lot more to say about it, but I just can't deal with it.

Below are some pictures from Mom's memorial service that Sarah took.  It was a beautiful service at my Mom's "spot" (14th Avenue South at Jacksonville Beach) on the beach.  She used to look for seashells there.  Mandy and I spoke, Pastor Clare (from Avondale UMC) delivered a wonderful Eulogy, along with my Mom's childhood friend and Assistant Pastor Betsy Clark.  Betsy's memories of Mom as a child through adulthood were particularly precious to me, as they were stories I didn't even know.  Beck "fell into the sea" (his words) at some point toward the end.  I think Mom was laughing at that one.  Real hard.

It really is all such a blur.  So many people just guided us through this process--watched my kids (many Warners), held my hand, helped with the arrangements (Matt did so much and Aunt Denise Brennan too).  I was still in so much shock (and really still am), and Matt has been my rock through it all.  So many of Mom's friends came, it was truly touching.  The beach is not a traditional memorial service spot, but it was perfect for Mom.

Here's the picture we used of her at the memorial service.

Some of Mom's jewelry on her bedspread.

Since Darby wasn't at the funeral, thought I'd include these pictures of her taken that week.
