Oh, Beck

Every morning, without exception, one of the kids wakes me up (I know, I'm lazy).  This morning, Beck woke me up, I went and got him out of the crib, and then we went out to the living room.  Beck looked at me very somberly, and said, "Mommy, you need to go potty!"  It's true, every morning he goes potty with me.  He is constantly saying or doing things like this--he is very cognizant of the "order of things" and likes a very structured routine.  Things need to be done in order when he's around, he has a killer memory!  This afternoon, he and Ramsey were playing with some cards, and he had a set of about 6 that he considered "his," and when the cards got all mixed up, he went back and picked out "his" cards out of the group of 20 or so.  These were animal cards and no two were alike.

He is crazy cute.  He is intense, and prone to throwing a fit when a) things don't go his way or b) transitioning from one thing to the next.  It is pretty tricky to stay consistent, but if we are consistent, Beck is happy and much easier to deal with.

This kid is a puzzle whiz.  His process is crazy--he is jittery and kind of all over the place.  He sits on puzzle pieces, and moves around constantly.  But he gets the job done.

He did this one (24 pieces) all by himself.  It took about 20-30 minutes.  It was really hard for me to just watch.  It was actually right before naptime, and he insisted on finishing before his nap, so I kept rushing him.  Did I mention Beck has a lot of opinions?  He is strong-willed!  I chose to let him finish rather than fight that battle.

In the time it took Beck to do his puzzle, Ramsey did these.  She is a puzzle whiz too.  She told me she was finishing these puzzles so I would be proud of her.  Yikes!  Maybe I went overboard with the puzzle praise?  Matt told me I am officially a Vienna Mom now :)
